Lets talk LOVE!

goodreadsThis is my 99th post on WordPress. And I feel that it’s the perfect occasion to talk about love.
I mean , this is exactly not the  space to discuss our love stories or dating!  I won’t discuss anyone’s married life, too !

Instead, I will discuss a few things I love in my life. Things that I loved once and then loved repeating. They became a part of my happiness. I know I can reach out to them for inspiration , inner peace,  instant happiness any time.

I love books. I guess I was a book-worm in my last life ( Oops! It’s a lie! I don’t believe in re-birth!) .  I love the smell of a fresh newspaper and a never-opened book. I hate marking on books . [ The only time I marked on a book was when I spent sleep-less nights to read ” Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg. I definitely wanted to remember a few inspiring points from that book! :D]

Books in my collection should be forever fresh and welcoming. I also love movies – movies that inspire or make us laugh ! I watch a few  TV shows and  listen to music whenever I get some free time.

So, here goes the collection of “Love” :

Fictions:

  • The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society [ Have you read it? You must!]
  • Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
  • A tree grows in Brooklyn
  • Interpreter Of Maladies
  • Shantaram

Non- Fictions :

  • Wings of Fire: An Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam
  • India After Gandhi
  • Go, Kiss the world
  • Einstein: His Life and Universe
  • Secret

There are 6, 7, 8,9,10.., 100 too. But, let me just give you 5, for now.

Movies :

  • Into the wild
  • The Letter Writer
  • P.S I Love You
  • The Artist
  • Hugo

TV – shows :

These are not for inspiration. But plain addictions.  😀

  • Sherlock – the BBC series.
  • Everybody loves raymond
  • gossip girl
  • Melissa and Joey
  • How I met your Mother ( Yes, I still watch it! ..Really! I am not bored of their 8 year long story , still! 😀 )

Some YouTube links I love re-hitting:

  1. I don’t love my work, I need to work for money and to pay for the things that I do love. I am not really sure of a favourite book, I tend to read action/adventure stories and so they are not “classics” so to speak.

I have not seen the movie you mention, in fact I have not seen any of the movies you mention, nor read any of the books 😛 and I don’t really re-read books, the only one I can think of that I did was “The Hunt for Red October” by Tom Clancy.

Things that I love (in no particular order)

    Chocolate

Alcohol, whilst that makes me sound like an alcoholic (especially as I was drunk last night too) I am not, I enjoy good quality spirits and wine.

Music: I relish (what I think is) good music, something with emotion that allows me to drift off and dream, or make “videos in my head” to the tracks.

Heavy rain and Thunderstorms: I think that this is so cleansing, I love to noise of the rain on the floor and the crack of thunder, I could watch it for hours.

Gaming: for the last 2 years I have had an addiction to Eve Online, it is a Space MMO so like WoW but in space would be the easiest way to describe it I guess.

    1. I have hardly seen people in love with their 9 to 5 life. It’s a difficult question right , when we are asked to choose a favorite book? 🙂 Action/ adventure stories are great.

These movies are really good. 🙂 I mean I watch all movies , all super hero movies , fairy tales , comedies , drama, romance , witty ones. But when I thought of top 5, these 5 came to my mind. 🙂 You may love Into the wild . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Into_the_Wild_(film). Also the Artist and hugo – masterpiece. I love art films a lot. I can spend hours thinking what a art movie want to express. Ha ha 🙂 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Artist_(film)

You make videos in your head while listening? That’s wonderful. Almost all beautiful songs have those terrible videos. I normally love lyrics more than the instrumental music in any song. So, I can understand the making video part.

I do not like games much. My nephew and niece are totally into it. So , sometimes, we play with them.:)

Thank you so much , Steve, for stopping by. And Rainy season is the best season!:)

  2. Hi Archita, congrats for your 99th post and its a nice one simple and honest. I like non fiction and autobiography books most because you can reread them several times and find something new witch one overlooked sometimes. In fiction I like James Hadley Chase simply because you can reread them without getting bored. Music and books are my true love.

    1. Music and books are rarely girl’s best friends now. I am surprised seeing so many responses , Indira , today. I love auto-biographies and biographies too. I do not like self help books , I don’t know why! But biographies I love! Music has been a true co-passenger in my journey. Singing and listening . Thank you so much for stopping by.:)

  3. Archita – Congrats on 99th post..Hopefully 100th ( century ) will be the best one..:):)….Surprisingly no SRK movie…:):):)….Read Tao of physics….:):)

  4. Congrats on your 99th post Archita! 😀

Great post as usual too and it’s so lovely to know more about you. I love reading but nowadays it’s mostly reading on the blogs. I am busy with a book by Robin Cook called Toxin but somehow the blogs and my photography keeps pulling me away. 😆

I’ve seen the trailer of ‘Into the Wild’ but I would worry too much..hehehe. He made me think of my boys and if any of them would do that I would worry myself to death.
I did see ‘P.S. I love you’ and cried myself silly. Not sure about the others. I see so many movies that I forget half of their names.

TV shows : Love ‘How I met your mother’ – my oldest son loves watching it too and we laugh ourselves silly for that lot.

I am not sure if ‘Secret’ – the one book on your list is the same one I’ve read. It was an e-book I downloaded called ‘The Secret’

My best authors are Stephen King, Dean R. Koontz, John Saul and Robin Cook. That’s about it. Now and then I would read books from other authors but I like horrors and medical thrillers. Barbara Michaels is also one of my favourites and a few others, but the top ones are books that I love to collect.

Loved the video links and watched a few of them from Ted’s show. Great stuff!
Thanks for sharing hon. Back to homework for me now. 😀 *hugs*

    1. Hi Sonel , So glad to read your comment . My dad is a doctor and he loves Robin Cook a lot. We have many books by Robin Cook,,Stephen King and Jon Saul because my dad loves reading them. I have read two books only by Robin Cook and loved . Actually I love reading . I think I love all books. Just the smell of paper and words on the pages – I think I fall in love. 🙂

Until a few years ago, How I met your Mother was my most favorite Tv show .Now , whenever I feel stressed out , I watch Everybody Loves Raymond – light comedy about families. Somehow, I laugh even after watching all episodes for so many times.

Those Ted talks are really awesome. They inspire. As we grow up, we see that the number of inspiring people gets less and less. Thank God we have Ted shows. 🙂

P.S I love you and crying. My husband asks why do I have to watch a movie just to cry! But , I love that movie. And I cry too each time . 🙂 I love the story and cinematography of Into the wild . And the moral : Happiness is only real when shared! How true! 🙂

Yes, secret is that The Secret. You are totally right:)

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing what you love. I know reading blogs take too much time. But ..still, each story offers so much knowledge. Love the blog world .

      1. Well, that is awesome Archita and I just loved hearing that your dad loves their books as well and then he is doctor as well! Stunning! What I love about Robin Cook’s books is that it’s so well researched. Glad to hear there are other fans and yes, I love the smell of books and that is why I love collecting their books. If I had my way I would have a room just for books..hehehe

I love watching shows like that too when I feel down or stressed but my favourite series like Supernatural, A Haunting, Arrow, Beauty and the Beast, Defiance, Mentalist, Monk, NCIS, X-files, True Blood, Warehouse 13, and lots more. 😆

My hubby and sons also laugh at me when I start crying when I watch movies like that and I then chase them out..heheheh. Silly men! I love stories with morals. We can learn so much from them. 😀

Love the book and the videos are just as great. Very interesting and true. 😀

You are very welcome hon and thanks for sharing as well. It’s great to get to know others like this. 😀 *big hugs*

  5. I can’t pick a most favorite book, all my other books would be jealous! I do love books. I’d never used Goodreads, I followed your link and wound up making an account 😉 The books I reread the most would be the poetry ones.

I haven’t watched Into the Wild or The Letter Writer as yet. Picking a favorite movie for me is like picking a favorite book, there’s so many to pick from …

    Congrats on 99 posts!! 🙂

    1. Ck , Congrats on 99th posts . :)* High five * 🙂 We made it to 99. :):D..

It was so difficult to choose those 5 ; In fact, I went out for dinner as I was unwell today and badly needed a change [ of taste and cook 😀 ] and I edited my post from there : I added A tree grows in Brooklyn , replacing to kill a mocking bird.. 🙂 Both are favorites though..:D

If you have netflix, please watch the letter writer with your daughter ; you both will love it. I watched on 31st Dec and ended my pretty bad last year in a nice way. Also into the wild is great too.

Btw I loved – “I can’t pick a most favorite book, all my other books would be jealous!”. This is exactly how I want to think from now ..* hugs*

      1. I’m trying to figure out what I should write for a 100th post, I think I better wait until I feel better lol

I know I’ve read a Tree Grows in Brooklyn but I can’t remember it at all! To Kill a Mockingbird though, yup, one of my favorites 😉

I plan on watching both those movies now 🙂 With the amount of movies we watch I really should get netflix!

I always have a hard time picking a favorite anything, and I always tell myself it’s because I don’t want the unpicked things to be jealous. I think it’s a valid reason 😀 *hugs* back to you, Archita!

        1. CK , feel better soon. 🙂 I am eagerly waiting for your 100th post. 🙂
To kill a mockingbird – all time favorite. 🙂
That’s so true ; it’s difficult to choose favorite things out of so many awesome things. 🙂 Take care 🙂 *hugs*

    1. Thanks a lot Patrick . And you really love cars. 🙂
I have read only one out of the four books. I have read The Bible.
