10 things this November taught me

November was a real busy month for me. Along with my routine , I tried writing a post daily , this month. The challenge was to post at least 30 posts in 30 days for National Blog Posting Month.

And here’s what I learned :

1. if you have a plan for a whole month , your ambition shrinks from Day 20.Be aware of that fact.

2. That words fly around you only when the world is still and you are not having an active volcano in your mind.

3. That a month is really a long time.

4. That you cannot predict a health problem , cold , fever  and you also cannot forecast words floating around you during sickness.

5. That writing has to come to you ; you cannot plan it.

6. That writing for prompts are necessarily and ideally not that creative. Things that made you satisfied are the things unprompted.

7.That multi-tasking affects the quality of thinking.

8. That if you want to win on Day 1 , on Day 25 all you want is the month to fly away quickly.

9. That blogging is social network too ; until your readers read you, your piece of work looks like garbage.

10. That only some people really write and they do it with love, unasked.

    1. I observed it and by 25th , I thought of expressing it . But , I did not want to break hearts on 25th day! So waited till 30th! 🙂 Thank you so much , Indira. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing:)

    1. Ya , I think, that’s what art is .. You really have to be in right frame of mind and the time has to be just right… 🙂 There were days in November when I really did not want to write, but HAD to.. 🙂 and I cannot fill up my blog with craps ..so, it was really complex ..:D Thank you for the support , Vishal . 🙂 I am glad you liked those points . 🙂

  2. This is my all time favourite quote about writing.

“Writing is not hard. Just get paper and pencil, sit down, and write as it occurs to you. The writing is easy–it’s the occurring that’s hard.”
    (Stephen Leacock)

I cannot write unless I am inspired, And there is no guarantee that I will be inspired to write 30 days in a row. And that is why I tend to avoid prompts, even though they are tempting.

    1. Really..how true! That occurring is so hard . 30 days in a row is difficult , it was difficult for me since I am not a professional writer; I love writing and there were sickness and work and bad days and writing through all of them was the challenge! I displayed all posts I wrote in November , hopefully not that bad though hard ! Thank you very much , Sanjida. See you again here. 🙂

    1. It was really hard , Robbie. But , we have done it. 🙂 That’s the best part of the story. 🙂 Yay! 🙂 Thank you very much for the visit and the comment from blogspot. I really appreciate it. 🙂

  3. Archita,
Thanks for sharing your insights on doing a daily blog. Number 5 on your list really stands out. I don’t set any goals for my blog…I have been tempted by the stats. Maybe that makes me a lazy blogger? Nah…I write in the second half of number 6. When my blog become a chore, it will no longer enjoyable. I do find inspiration and encouragement from the blogs I follow.

    1. My goal is to share stories that occur during my journey – every word , story , poem , picture that stands out when I want to look back. And I think I am on my way..lets see where this blog takes me..

You’re not a lazy blogger , you have a life beyond blogging , and that has to be managed too ! Even if you have a reader who goes to your blog to read what you expressed everyday or every week , then that’s make you successful! On WordPress , many people read other blogs just to get readers for their own blog , read like a writer to know what sells good ; but if you have one real reader who enjoys what you serve on your blog – then it’s a big achievement!

The prompts and writing tricks bore me ..because if one does not have words, content , subject to write then what is he/she doing in the world of blogging?Right? I love writing challenges though because I love competition once in a while to accelerate my thought process! 😀 Thank you for sharing your thoughts , Patrick .:)

    1. That’s very true , Pauline. 🙂 Life happens in silence and follows its own path. I did not run away from the challenge and posted daily in November even though it was hard , even though for a week my both eyes were swollen and red thanks to cold virus , even though there were work , commitment , family engagements, I made it! 😀 That’s the sweet taste of achievement , even though mild still it feels sweet! 😀 Thank you for the support and readership. 🙂
