At First Blush

First day of fall 2015

I never noticed leaves changing color in September in my neighborhood. September is sunny, and warm mostly. Last week when the temperature dropped, the maple tree in the backyard turned red. But that was not the first hint of blush I saw this month.

Today is officially the first day of the autumn, my favorite season.

There’s something nostalgic and noteworthy about autumn, that’s why I closely monitor the transformation of nature through my lens. It’s that season, ″that season of peculiar and inexhaustible influence on the mind of taste and tenderness–that season which has drawn from every poet worthy of being read some attempt at description, or some lines of feeling.”

First day of fall in California 2015

I clicked these photographs in Napa valley, a few weeks ago. Some parts of the vineyards already turned red by then. I was not able to ignore the changed colors in bright daylight. I named the moment and the photos “At first blush” that time only.

Wish you all a great autumn!

    1. Once I was in Sacramento and it was November, a road in a busy neighborhood was covered with bright colored fallen leaves- and I was wondering why people go to east coast to see fall colors! Sorry for replying late, Terri. I love the light, like you mentioned. 🙂 Thank you so much.

  1. Perfect! That’s how an autumn lover starts her favorite season. I remember reading a beautiful poem you wrote about fall two years ago ( I suppose!)… Happy autumn to you too! The first picture stole my heart

So what do you think?
