When I say I love Fleabag, I mean I love her like my own, because she sounds exactly like my inner voice, and while she stays hidden mostly and doesn’t break the 4th wall, but sometimes she does and that scares me but also makes me giddy since I have her!

A: I am sure she is still discovering who she is, but she is the voice us women often repress when around people. Played by the OG Mother Phoebe Waller Bridge, Fleabag is the ultimate manic-pixie dream girl who is really far down the rabbit hole to realize it’s just her coping mechanism.
Q Why is Fleabag promiscuous?
A: Because she tries to bury her fear of being alone with her accusatory thoughts in horried sex( mostly). She is so bored by the meaningful sex with men she hardly knows that she often talks to us during, but it is only the Hot Priest that manages to evoke something sincere in her. And we know that because she shuts us out.
Q Why is Fleabag scared of being alone?
A: Her guilt terrorizes her
Q: Why does she break the fourth wall?
A: Because the audience is the only set of people who she can open up to and she confides into us her some of the less agreeable facets of her life. We are her friends, as she lost her only friend. But even then she controls how much we can know

A: Hot Priest is not just another sexual encounter for her, he gets her, to her, he is the balm or maybe psalm for that permanent hole in her heart. He can read her, knows her triggers, calls her out when she is talking to us. It’s like he can see her inside out.

A: The hamster is a red pill that reminds her of her best friend and she both loves and abhors it
Q: How does Fleabag address her grief?
A: She doesn’t actually, though we did get a tiny flicker of redemption while she is with the Hot Priest. Also can we have her therapist’s number please? They are ideal!
It’s almost like the crack in her defense is visible, but then, with the Hot priest gone and her love intact, and her heart probably following the fox that’s following the priest, guess we just have to wait.
