Chandonnogore- A lost piece of French history( Part 1)

IN

What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

The last thing I looked up online: Are there any ferries from Kolkata to Chandonnogore?

Okay, so I had a dream about Chandonnogor, out of the blue, while I was halfway through writing my book. I had been wanting to go back to my ancestral town and because of the distance and inaccessibility, I was unable to plan. Chandonnogor turned out to be the next best thing, and soon my story grew around and spread roots.

I am traveling to Kolkata for an event and have all the time in the world over the weekend, so I am gonna be exploring this former French colony, only an hour away from Kolkata, India.

So, what is so special about Chandonnogore?

Well, that Rabindranath Tagore had a house there, the first floor of which is completely submerged in the river Hooghly, and then you have the strand road and the Town museum.

A writer’s paradise. Chandannagar also happened to play a significant part of the Indian independence movement, something that is also integral to my story.

I could have added pictures from the internet, but I will do myself one better, write a follow up to this post, with photos from the field.

I am super excited!!!
