So, I was probably living under a rock, because, I, up till some months back thought the concept of sister cities is alien to us Indians. It was only after a coffee induced research spree that made me discover that we too have sister cities across the world. Not having discovered any foreign city yet, the sister cities to the places I have called home at various points would serve as a great foundation for exploring the world.
For example, my current hometown is Delhi which is sister to Beijing and Chicago; Kolkata is to Dhaka and Dallas and Mumbai to Busan and Los Angeles among others. The Indian Government’s Economic Diplomacy Division has the exhaustive list of the sister cities if you would like to explore more. These agreements are not just good for travel but also for trade; the best of both worlds.
I plan to explore these in the next five years and then the world will be my Oyster.
