What I think makes me a good leader

Bloganuary writing prompt
What makes a good leader?

I would go with empathy, empathizing with a team member because you were there once and your hindsight virtue will come in handy to nudge them towards the right direction. It’s easy to get swayed by the power trip a management position provides and you lose sight of the shy and overwhelmed 20 something you hiding away somewhere, too scared to ask questions.

Empathy is a great quality that obliviates the barriers between your team and you and makes them ask the right questions at the right time and reduce procrastination ( tried and tested folks).

Another quality would be note taking. I used to be a reluctant note taker, relied too much on my memory and sometimes on others and obviously ended up missing things and eventually the big picture.

But thanks to my journaling practice, I now make detailed notes ( also add diagrams and all, yes ma’am!) and it comes handy if we are stuck somewhere while brainstorming.

Of course a good leader should have additional qualities but I just feel these two are criminally underrated.

What do you think?
