It’s like I’m constantly guilt-tripping myself back to the good ol’ days when my mom insisted on baby me taking afternoon naps. She would want me to nap in the day, mostly after school and I obviously didn’t want to. She wanted me to sleep so bad because she wanted some rest too, but how could I waste my time snoozing when there were adventures to be had and mischiefs to be managed.

Fast forward to the adult me who tries to pack in some sleep whenever she can, she counts the number of hours of careless slumber on her fingertips and sighs in relief whenever it is higher than 5. If left to my devices, I can sleep for 18 hours undeterred, but thanks to the cat and the human I married, it’s just wishful thinking.
But I do envy the cat because he sleeps like there’s no tomorrow, and the human because he can fall asleep at the drop of a hat.
So, this is for all kids big and small, listen to your mama when she tucks you in the day, those adventures can wait, the amount of time won’t.
So, when Mama says it’s lights out, better cozy up and catch those Z’s.
