Join me on this chilly Wednesday morning to sing a happy fare-thee-well to the longest January in the history of humankind. I may hide how happy I am to be seeing the last of it, almost as well as Michael Scott when he sang for Toby on the latter’s last working day.
So, why am I so happy to let Jan go?
Well, because I live in Delhi, and for those unaware, Delhi is the foggiest in January, but this time the fog was thicker, the pollution was nastier and the cold was meaner. To be greeted by this unholy trinity in the wake of a sunny holiday did me in sooner than I could say Hi. I fell sick, I usually have the usual cold in winters but this one just didn’t want to say goodbye. I survived this January with a runny nose and sore throat complimented by a cough that didn’t let me sleep at night on most days.
I reverted to a night owl from being a morning person for a good part of December. Sigh!
But I found solace in the virtual solidarity from fellow January’24 haters on X(famously Twitter).
Now, I just want to sing a hearty goodbye to the longest January and leap onto a slightly shorter February.
