Retire to where?
If you mean retire to bed, my answer would be- absolutely spent after achieving everything I wanted to achieve in the day. Sleep, in this sense, turns into a reward for a day well lived.
If you mean retire from work, my answer would be- I am not sure if I want to retire completely from work- any kind- gainful or meaningful because work has been a huge part of my identity, I introduce myself leading with what I do and then go on to the other bits. Retirement as a concept has also undergone a massive shift in our ever evolving world. Retirement is no longer the end of work life as it previously would have meant. Retirement can look like part-time work, volunteering, or pursuing hobbies and interests that were previously sidelined by career demands. The goal is to stay mentally active, socially engaged, and physically healthy while enjoying the freedom that comes with a more flexible schedule.
If you mean retire from the world of living- my answer would be- after doing everything I have decided to do in my time, striking off all the bucket list items and traveling to my heart’s content. Life is an experience and I want to make sure mine is filled with adventures, experiences, and accomplishments that leave me with little regrets. Only then, would I consider it a worthy retirement.
