July Writing Challenge- Day 21
Some nights I get a sudden urge to find an answer to some of the most complex questions.
Last night it was- can we access the universe from the ocean bed?
I would have called up NASA or CERN, had not a simple Google search answered the query.
Answer: We’ve explored Space more than our Oceans. So far, only around 25% of the ocean floor has been mapped with sonar power, while manned exploration has been a mere one-fifth of it. And it has taken us hundreds of years to reach here.
By comparison, we’ve gone furthur when it comes to space exploration, though much of it has been achieved remotely, through telescopes, while manned missions have increased in the last fifty years.
To understand the space and its inhabitants better, scientists are now looking into the ocean. Yes, as both Ocean and Space environments are hostile to humans after a certain point Both need to be observed from afar using cutting edge equipment, large funding, and significant safety measures. The pressures experienced at deep-sea levels rival the harsh conditions encountered in space. Both fields also heavily rely on robotic or remotely operated missions due to the inherent risks and limitations of human presence (World Atlas,2025).
So, the aliens up there may have some similarities with the alien like creatures we may encounter down below. In fact, only yesterday I watched a reel in which an Octopus, while being attacked by a huge fish, first sprayed a black ink at it then camouflaged into another fish and then as coral reef while constantly fending off the attack- let me add the video for your benefit:
Imagine if we could do that!
