Last Day of July

July Writing Challenge-Finite

It’s the last day of July, or it was as it’s half past midnight here.

August is a month I like a lot, it’s the month before autumn comes, it’s the month before Durga Pujo sometimes, it’s the intervening month. There is a lot of hope lingering in the intervening months: events you’re looking forward to are yet to happen, there’s promise in the air, the fragrance of night jasmine becomes stronger, in preparation of her welcome.

And there’s a marathon too this time, and this one matters because I need to make the cut off to be eligible for a half marathon later in the year.

So, let’s welcome August with a twinkle in our eyes and a smile playing on our lips.
