Because I can? Exercising my free will….sharing all the mundane, interesting, unique, funny( often only to me) things that happen to me or because of me- they all bring joy to me.
Talking about joy, please do watch these two movies as soon as you can:
First is The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix- a faithful adaptation of the book of the same name by Richard Osman. It features a stellar cast including Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan & Celia Imrie, who find themselves evidence board deep in a layered murder mystery surrounding their picturesque retirement mansion. Need I say more?
The second one, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, is currently out at a multiplex near you- A bold fusion of superhero spectacle and folklore, laced with feminist undertones. The first half is visually breathtaking, the second could be tighter, but the whole film is a rare cinematic feast. You’ll walk out visibly awed.
The best part about these two movies? Both already have sequels in the works.
Why else do I blog? To write about injustices, particularly those faced by women. Tomorrow, I’ll be posting about India’s fraught history with the criminalization of marital rape. Next week, I’ll share a curated list of essential feminist reads from across the world.
